You will need:

An apple any bruised, or wrinkly one will do

String

A knife

Sunflower seeds

Cut two slots in the top and bottom of the apple(An adult should be in charge of the knife at all times).

Tie a piece of string around the apple tightly.

Cut both sides of the apple off.

Push sunflowers seeds into the apple, using as many as you can.

Hang up your apples somewhere the birds can easily get to.

Watch over the next few days and record how many birds eat from your feeder.

You can also draw pictures of the types of birds that visit.

It is especially good to do this project in the winter when the birds are really hungry. Remember attracting birds into your garden will help you to control slugs, snails and other pests!
